Cross-border · New WunnCheck tool

Where should you live if you work in Luxembourg?

This page compares your estimated net pay, housing, commuting and telework exposure. Tax-treaty logic, social security and the recorded-cost budget stay clearly separate.

Important

This is an estimate only. Your final outcome can differ based on your tax card, global rate, employer declarations and exact facts.

The goal is guidance, not fake certainty.

You can immediately see what belongs to treaty taxation, social security and the real monthly budget.

Specialist match

Need more than an estimate?

When the file gets more complex, WunnCheck can route you toward a human specialist instead of pretending the tool covers every edge case.

  • Cross-border tax and payroll questions
  • Relocation, mortgage or insurance handoff
  • Public-sector, multistate or high-telework situations
  • Support for people who want a second opinion before acting
Useful when your result raises flags or you need a trusted next step.

How WunnCheck reads your scenario

The calculator keeps budget, cross-border work, and decision signals separate so you can see what needs a real-world check.

Budget layer

Compares estimated Luxembourg net pay, housing cost, commute cost, and monthly room left.

Cross-border work layer

Flags telework, treaty-day exposure, and social-security/A1 review points.

Decision layer

Highlights which scenario needs review. It does not make a final tax, legal, payroll, or mortgage decision.

Sources and assumptions

WunnCheck uses reviewed assumption files and source notes for Luxembourg tax/social contribution assumptions, housing averages, commute assumptions, telework/treaty/social-security framework assumptions, and the source registry. Official verification is still required before acting.

Example: lower rent can still mean a harder scenario

A France scenario may show lower housing cost but higher commute friction or telework review risk. WunnCheck separates those layers so the cheapest rent is not automatically treated as the best decision.

What the comparison shows

Treaty thresholds

Workdays outside Luxembourg are counted separately. WunnCheck shows whether you remain comfortably inside the line or whether a salary allocation outside Luxembourg becomes more likely.

Telework and A1

Tax-treaty logic and social-security logic are not the same. Telework can trigger A1 or multistate questions even without a treaty overrun.

Non-resident couples

Spouse income and assimilation can change the real outcome. The page flags that openly instead of hiding it.

Orientation, not advice

This version does not replace payroll, tax advisers or lawyers. It helps you arrive at the next conversation better prepared.

Sources and benchmarks

Tax and social-security rules come from official Luxembourg sources. Housing and commute benchmarks are clearly marked as editable editorial assumptions.
